In May 2012, the Hugo Sinzheimer Institute, center for research on "labor and law" at the University of Amsterdam, started a research project on the recovery of work-related damages commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs & Employment, Healthy and Safe Work Directorate. The aim of the project was to make an inventory of the strengths and weaknesses of existing ways of recovering damages in the Netherlands, to offer a perspective on some of the ways of recovering damages that are used in the Netherlands in other fields or abroad, and finally to indicate 'directions for solutions' that are worthy of consideration in government policy.
