Seminar at EYE

On Oct. 17, 2024, the semi-annual DVDK seminar was again held at Filmmuseum EYE. The topics this time were: do's and don'ts when investigating work culture, incidents or possible cross-border behavior in the workplace. The state of affairs regarding ZZP-ers, the VBAR bill, an overview of pending bills, the distinction between part- and full-time workers following an important ruling by the Court of Justice and current case law.

Maarten Stekelenburg covered an important Court of Justice ruling on the distinction between part- and full-time employees. Patricia van Eck gave a useful overview of pending bills. Next, Ivo Boudrie discussed the state of affairs regarding ZZP-ers: the lifting of the enforcement moratorium and the bill Verduidelijking Beoordeling Arbeidsrelaties en Rechtsvermonden (VBAR) that is to replace the DBA law. How will false self-employment be prevented, how will it be assessed, and what will the tax authorities pay attention to? And how (strictly) will it be enforced? Finally, as usual, our professor Prof. Ruben Houweling concluded the seminar, this time with a perspective on the labor market with all its challenges. Ruben further explained important case law, including on the employee complaint duty, vacation pay and the 10-minute rule.
