One dismissal is not the other, HR Rendement 11-2020

This summer, SZW Minister Koolmees presented the evaluation of the Work and Security Act (WWZ) to the House of Representatives. The WWZ, among other things by reforming the dismissal law, aimed to make a dismissal more straightforward, faster, fairer and less costly for the parties involved. In this article you will read whether it has succeeded. It will discuss the number of dismissals, the cost of dismissal, the speed of dismissal and the likelihood of success for each type of dismissal.

The evaluation of the WWZ addresses the differences in the number of layoffs over three two-year periods:

▪ 2011-2012 (before the WWZ);

▪ 2015-2016 (during the introduction of the WWZ);

▪ 2018-2019 (after the start of the WWZ).

The number of layoffs fell from 255,000 in 2011-2012 to 169,000 in 2018-2019. This is a decrease of almost 34%. The improvement in economic conditions from 2011 to 2019 is blamed for this.
